Shiva organic’s bhangjeera is authentic Himalayan product, comes straight from farmers and is not chemically washed. This is native to mountain region and has high nutritional value. The seeds and leaves of perilla are also used for flavoring curries in north east India, the seeds are called Bhangjeera. The seeds are harvested in autumn when the fruits are ripe. To collect perilla seeds, the whole plant is harvested, and the seeds are beat out of the plant, before being spread for sun drying. Perilla seeds can be soft or hard, being white, grey, brown, and dark brown in colour and globular in shape. It has a distinctive nutty aroma and taste and it adds to the flavour of various dishes. It is used in various region of India, Nepal and even Korea. Perilla is used as culinary and medicinal herb in many part of Asia.

Perilla seeds are rich in dietary fibre and dietary minerals such as calcium, iron, niacin, protein , and thiamine. The research states that perilla helps in improved heart health.Other studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acids are useful in the treatment of cancer, inflammatory, colitis/Crohn’s disease, arthritis and various skin conditions. Anti-inflammatory doses of perilla oil have been shown to reduce the hypertensive and nephrotoxic effects of cyclosporin. It prevent the formation of LTB4 have been used in treating asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and psoriasis.Perilla seed supplies the polyphenolic ingredients luteolin and rosmarinic acid- two substances that have a powerful impact on decreasing allergy symptoms.
