Black Wheat Roti & Tomato Thecha - A Desi Fusion Classic

So, let’s start with the ‘Black Wheat Roti & Tomato Thecha’ recipe below -

 

For Roti or bread - Shiva Organic’s Hemp seed flour and black wheat flour

For Thetha - Shiva Organic’s hemp seeds and  bird eye chillis

 

Black Wheat Roti Recipe -

Ingredients -

1/3 cup black wheat flour

2 tbsp hemp seed flour

A pinch of salt 🧂

Add enough water 

 

Method -

Step 1 - Make the Dough - Take a container you are comfortable in kneading the dough. Add black wheat flour and hemp seed flour along with adding a pinch of salt. Add water gradually and knead the dough properly and leave it for 10-15 minutes to let it sit.

 Step 2 - Roll it out - Once the dough is rested, make tiny dough balls and roll it out. 

Step 3 - Cook the rotis - Place a tawa over the flame, heat  tava and cook black wheat roti one by one as many times as you can.

 

Tomato Thetha -

Ingredients -  

– 2 Garlic Pods

– 1 tsp sesame seeds

– 1/4 cup desiccated coconut ,

– 1 tsp hemp seeds

– 2 bird eye chillis

– 1 tbsp tomato  powder

Method -

Step 1 - Roast ingredients together - Roast peeled garlic cloves, tomato  powder, sesame seeds, bird eye chillies in a pan over medium heat until they become golden and fragrant. 

Step 2 - Let it cool and blend - After the roasted spices cool down slightly, blend into a coarse, slightly sticky chutney.

Step 3 - Serving time - Serve this fresh and spicy thecha with the homemade black wheat roti.
