PURITY OVER PROCESSES: EVERY PENNY IS WORTH PAYING FOR EATING CLEAN

PURITY OVER PROCESSES: EVERY PENNY IS WORTH PAYING FOR EATING CLEAN

If you’d told me five years ago that I’d be paying attention to where my food comes from, I would’ve laughed. I was a typical corporate millennial, surviving on instant meals, takeout lunches, and caffeine on loop. However at this point, being in my 30s, having gone through the corporate mill and addiction to caffeine for years, my body has slowly started to reveal its discontent through signs, tiredness, a cup of coffee could not revive, weak resistance to infections, and a mind soaked in a fog that turned even weekends into workdays.

This phase of my life was the one when I started to question what I was giving my body as food. That’s when I realized the answer wasn’t another diet trend, it was simply about eating closer to nature.

The Wake-Up Call

Like most working professionals, I spent years thinking I was “healthy enough.” A gym membership, green smoothies twice a week, and weekend hikes - it sounded fine. But stress, poor sleep, and processed foods had taken a toll. According to a 2023 NCBI study, nearly 65% of urban Indian adults report some form of nutrient deficiency due to packaged and adulterated food consumption.

I was one of them. My immunity was low, I’d fall sick with every season change. My gut was not working properly, and my complexion was lifeless. I was not interested in any vitamin-rich powders or expensive supplements; I wanted real hence the grandparents' ingredients.

The Shift: Paying for Purity

One random day my casual scrolling on the internet became pretty informative when I landed on a page that was all about a community focusing on cleaner food, organic products and incorporating nutrition in daily life. That is when I realised that it was not about money or luxurious products, these were simple ingredients we use everyday in the kitchen but organic, sustainably sourced, unprocessed, retaining all their natural nutrition in them. I came across like minded individuals who were juggling nutrition and fast life and found their solutions in a few clean brands that had proper certifications.

At first, the idea of paying extra for organic seemed unnecessary. But then I did the math - what I spent monthly on coffee runs and convenience snacks was far more than what it would cost to fuel my body with food that actually nourishes it.

That’s when I made the shift.

The journey to find brands with a mission of sustainability, working directly with farmers and beekeepers, and prioritizing clean ingredients sourced directly from nature like wild first honey, raw honeycomb, A2 Bilona Cow Ghee or fibrous Khapli Wheat.

Immunity Building Habits, One At a Time

At the beginning, I went for the easiest one, the method was a teaspoon of raw, unprocessed honey every morning with warm water. In a matter of weeks, my sore throat and tiredness which recurred were not so frequent. As also claimed by The National Library of Medicine, pure organic honey has major antibacterial properties and is packed with antioxidants, recommended for daily use. It helps in improving immunity and is a natural remedy for lot of seasonal allergies.

Afterwards I ate Lakadong turmeric, which has a reputation for its higher content of curcumin. I added it to my daily milk before going to sleep, and the difference made was easy to tell. I did not suffer that stiffness anymore after sitting for long hours at the desk and started to sleep better.

Some time following that, I replaced my regular flour with Khapli wheat, which is an ancient grain with low-gluten content but rich in fiber thus very easily digestible. I did not feel the often disgustingly big tummy that I had just accepted as part of normality anymore.

And perhaps my favourite discovery was A2 Gir Cow Ghee. Living in an Indian family, ghee was always comfort for me, but switching to A2 ghee made it guilt-free. It supported my gut health, gave my cooking a natural aroma, and even replaced my store-butter for frying up.

These few changes, grounded in whole food, resulted in a cumulative effect. My immunity grew stronger. I started feeling light yet full of energy, my skin looked fresher, and the afternoon energy crashes became rare.

From Processed to Pure: A Community on the Rise

With these changes in place, I saw something very nice happening in the web world, a community of people who choose purity over convenience gradually coming together. There were doctors, parents, and sports people, all with one faith: you are what you eat.

It is a silent revolution, which has been going on till now and being by the ones who have already changed their mindset on food from just being a source of energy to self-care. We are becoming capable of checking the labels, tracking the ingredients, and financially supporting the ones who grow in a sustainable way.

Wherever honey is found in a jar or Khapli wheat flour is with the effort of farmers, beekeepers, and artisans, all of whom are very passionate about what they grow, and produce caring. I’m getting not only health benefits but also becoming a part of the movement of being eco-friendly, sharing the love, and living consciously.

Why I Call It My Best Investment

For a person working in a high-pressure area, I have realized that mental clarity and unchanging energy are my most valuable assets.

When I began spending on pure, organic, and naturally processed food, it wasn’t about indulgence, it was about investment.

Investment in Immunity – Natural honey and bee pollen are now my immunity boosters, not pills.

Investment in Gut Health – Ancient grains like Khapli and Ragi have replaced refined wheat, improving digestion.

Investment in Longevity – A2 ghee and Lakadong turmeric help reduce inflammation, the root of many modern illnesses.

Investment in Energy – Eating clean means no more post-lunch sluggishness or brain fog.

Now, when I open my kitchen shelf and see these golden jars and earthy packets, they remind me of balance - between body, work, and nature.

The Way Forward

Today, I am more mindful of where my food comes from. The price no longer is the dominant factor in my choosing; rather the purity of the product is the aspect I consider foremost.

Eating closer to nature has brought me back to myself, to a life where food isn’t rushed, where ingredients matter, and where every bite tells a story of the earth it came from.

And honestly, I don’t miss the processed world one bit.

Because once you experience the calm that comes from clean eating, there’s no going back.
